I was asked the following question the other day, how did cheating in poker start? I'm a lazy individual and am not about to look up some answers how some morons thought, how did cheating in poker start.
How does anything start when cheating and gambling is concerned? I know playing cards have been around for centuries, so I must conclude cheating in cards has been around for centuries.
I'm sure it wasn't hard to figure out, as marked cards were probably the first method of cheating in poker. As poker progressed, sleight of hand and mechanics joined the fray.
Cheating in poker isn't hard, as so many idiots play the game. To be successful in cheating in poker, all you have to do is be a little smarter in gambling than those you're playing with.
I've been asked who is the best poker cheat? I knew the best poker cheats of the current era. The one who just died would get my vote as the best all time player for cheating in poker. I can't say for sure who is the best poker cheat, but the group from the 70s and 80s would rank right there.
If you survived the 70s and 80s and were and made a name for yourself in those days, you can bet those players were amongst the best poker cheats ever. Do you know any players from the 70s and 80s who played poker?
They seem to know cheating has been cleaned up, but they don't seem to know who the cheating in poker was being done by.

About the whole world of poker in the know knew I was cheating, yet I was never barred nor was any action taken against me.

The premise is simple, if you played in the 70s and 80s and survived and made a name for yourself, you cheated. I don't care if your name was Jesus Christ.

Depending on where you're playing, many cheat in poker strategy differ. Until the Indian casino's and other casino's started to totally dominate today's world of gambling, cheating in poker was run differently from venue to venue.
Here are examples of how cheating in poker works. Back East especially, Halls, Lodge and Churches would have a charity casino night once in a while. The style on how cheating in poker works determines how the money is won. Some ways are fast, as with mechanics, while other ways are slow as with collusion.
How cheating in poker works depends on how good you are at what you do and where you're playing. Cheating in poker at a major hotel would be done by collusion and the use of marked cards at times. Basically, impossible to catch. Now if you were cheating in poker or anything else at a charity night, cheating devices and card mechanics would be used.
The reason, charity nights are for a night and the cheats take all they can get. The casino's are there forever, thus cheating in poker is a grind to them and no one wants to make waves.
This type of cheating in poker is the same as having an extra large rake in the game for the colluders. They may not win every night, but they seldom lose.
