This page is about the famous cheating tapes. As always we appreciate feedback from our visitors.
The Cheating Tapes
The Cheating Tapes were made on May 10th, 2001 and June 9th, 2001. These Cheating Tapes are about three confessed cheats and the interviewer is Mike Caro.
The people who confessed are Russ Georgiev (a fixture in California poker since the 60s), John Martino (a fixture in Las Vegas poker since the 60s, and Bill Nirdlinger (a cheating fixture since the 70s).
The Cheating Tapes were made in on two separate days, mentioned above. Each Cheating Tape is about 3 hours long. Quality of the tape is poor as Mike Caro supposedly made the Cheating Tapes for his own protection.
Prior to having these tapes made, Mike Caro had his life threatened two times and John Martino and myself, Russ Georgiev had attempts on our life.
The Cheating Tapes contained the names of people we had accused of being cheats and in crooked casino management for years.
Though an agreement was made to not distribute the Cheating Tapes, Mike Caro capitulated and gave Barry Shulman (owner of CardPlayer magazine) and Marshall Ragir (co owner of Cardplayermagazine.com with Barry Shulman) a copy of Cheating Tapes. Along with the tapes, Mike Caro also gave Shulman and Ragir chips from the upcoming WSOP at Binion's and tournament chips from the upcoming Bicycle Tournament (legends of Poker) which, I, Russ Georgiev had given Mike Caro in order to show him chips for these tournaments could be obtained prior to events and cheats did use them for their own benefit.
Shulman and Ragir were supposedly giving the Cheating Tapes to proper legal authorities (Nevada Sate Gaming Control Board, California Gaming Board), however, the evidence ended up with their lawyers to never be heard from again.
Since the enemy was now equipped with the Cheating Tapes, I, Russ Georgiev started sending out copies free of charge all over the world. I even paid the postage. I sent at least 4000 VHS copies of the Cheating Tapes out to anyone emailing me for a copy.
The United Kingdom received many copies, as well as Western Europe, Australia and the USA which received the bulk. I paid all postage so the tapes were free in all respects.
The tapes are about three players and cheats who tell it like it is for two sessions of about three hours each. We put uniforms on the cheats and crooked management.
The Cheating Tapes are now on DVD and can be purchased for $17.95 plus shipping and handling of $5.00.
The quality is poor and the first hour is a little difficult to hear clearly. After this everything gets better. In reality, it's like watching three Mafia guys discussing the history of poker in the largest US venues since 1965 up until the present.
That's a short synopsis for the Cheating Tapes, something no poker library should be without.
Poker Unchecked, my first book is now available.
It can be purchased on any of the following sites and perhaps a hundred more.
